Bringing expertise and a pragmatic approach to his business law practice, attorney Dan Morenoff specializes in helping his clients understand what fights are worth fighting and addressing their problems in a way that maximizes value and results. A gifted communicator, whether presenting persuasive arguments or keeping his clients informed and involved, Dan provides the practical and sophisticated representation necessary to achieve the best possible outcome—whatever the circumstances.
Dan Morenoff graduated from Columbia University in 1996 with degrees in economics and political science before attending the University of Chicago, where he earned his JD in 2001. In between, he served on the legislative staff of then-Texas Senator Phil Gramm. Since law school, he’s lived in Dallas, first working with Luce, mostly on commercial bankruptcy and insolvency cases. He founded the Morenoff Firm in 2012, where he continues to focus on similarly flavored matters, representing plaintiffs and defendants in adversary proceedings, federal litigation, and state court litigation, and participating in receivership cases. He became “Of Council” with Guest & Gray in 2020, handling a variety of civil litigation.
In 2012, Dan also founded the Equal Voting Rights Institute, a public interest law firm that brings redistricting litigation aimed at recapturing the original intent of the Voting Rights Act. Dedicated to the belief that the voting rights of Americans are sacred and equal, Dan is a passionate defender of Americans’ rights.
Dan is admitted to the State Bar of Texas, as well as those of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. His affiliations include: the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas’s Planning and Allocations Committee (multi-year member), the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Dallas (member of the JCRC Advisory Council), The Cardozo Society of the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas (former Co-Chairman), The Federalist Society (member of the Civil Rights Practice Group’s National Executive Committee; Past President of the Dallas Lawyers’ Chapter), Republican Jewish Coalition (Former President of the North Texas Chapter), and the Antient and Honorable Edmund Burke Society (sometime Chairman).
An avid reader, movie buff, and trivia game aficionado, Dan is married to Erica Morenoff, who sat next to him in a 7th grade history class, but seems to like him anyway. They have three girls and a dog.
