Driven by the belief that people shouldn’t be imprisoned for long periods of time for low-level, non-violent drug crimes, attorney Jeremy Gordon channels his passion for justice to benefit his criminal defense clients at both the state and federal levels. Tenacious, thorough, a strategic thinker, and a good listener, he’s the staunch ally defendants want on their side.
After earning his Bachelor of Business Administration from Abilene Christian University in 2003, Jeremy attended South Texas College of Law, where he graduated with his Juris Doctor in 2006. Following law school, Jeremy represented the State of Texas in felony and misdemeanor criminal trials and motions as Assistant District Attorney for the Harris County Attorney’s Office for three years. He moved to the Ellis County and District Attorney’s Office in Waxahachie, Texas, in 2010, where he worked as Assistant County and District Attorney in a similar capacity.
Although it had always been Jeremy’s dream to be a prosecutor, after five years on the prosecution side, he realized justice meant something different to him than it did to the District Attorney’s Office. His opposition to long, draconian sentences with no opportunity for parole or redemption, coupled with the United States’ Sentencing Commission’s expanded compassionate release guidelines and a personal desire to reunite people with their loved ones and reacclimate to society, prompted Jeremy to change which side he represented. He opened his own criminal defense firm in December of 2012, providing pretrial, sentencing, appellate, and post-conviction representation to federal offenders. Jeremy joined Guest & Gray in 2024, where he continues to handle post-trial federal criminal defense cases as well as state criminal cases inside and outside of Kaufman County.
Experienced on both sides of criminal law, Jeremy’s greatest strengths are his thoroughness, his never-give-up work ethic, and his commitment to research, reading court cases weekly to stay up-to-date on new cases and the law to determine the best options for his clients that result in positive outcomes. He is most proud of the appellate cases he has won resulting in reduced sentences for his clients.
Equally passionate about educating the public about their criminal rights, especially young people whose youthful mistakes will plague them their entire lives, Jeremy has presented numerous informative seminars. His popular presentation on Knowing Your Constitutional Rights, which covers Americans’ Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth amendment rights, can be found on YouTube here.
For the last few years, Jeremy has derived immense satisfaction from hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas parties for people with nowhere to go. A proponent of fitness and well-being—including swimming and running—he has run two marathons and one half iron man.
